KANNUR: A police official has been accused of thrashing a passenger for travelling without a train ticket. ASI Pramod is seen kicking a passenger of Maveli Express with his boot. The complaint lodged stated that the ASI kicked the passenger without any provocation. The visuals of the officer kicking him and knocking him down had gone viral.
The incident happened when the Maveli Express from Mangalore to Thiruvananthapuram passed Thalassery last night. The passenger boarded the train from Mahi Sunday evening. The police said that he was drunk and misbehaved with the passengers.
The passengers then informed the TT but as he could not solve the problem, he sought the help of the police. The police arrived and tried to send him out. However, the visuals show the police kicking the passenger with his boots and pushing him. One of the passengers captured the footages.
Kannur city police commissioner R Elanko said special branch SP has been entrusted to probe the incident.
