THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A meeting is chaired by the chief minister to discuss issues in connection with the functioning of schools in the state in view of the rising number of Covid cases in the state. Education Minister V Sivankutty is also attending the meet.
The advice of the expert panel will be sought on further restrictions to be imposed and preventive measures to be taken. Weekend and night curfews are likely to be imposed.
The meet will also discuss the opening of Covid First Line Treatment Centres (CFLTC) to assess the Covid situation in the districts. 6238 cases were reported in the state yesterday. The test positivity rate crossed 11. So far, 49,591 people have died from the virus and 34,902 people are presently under treatment.
The booster dose of Covid-19 vaccine will be administered from today in all states including Kerala. Vaccines are given to frontline workers and those above 60 years of age with related diseases. The booster dose is given nine months after taking the second dose of the vaccine.
