THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: With the distribution of ration getting disrupted for four consecutive days due to server issues, the government has decided to use a new server for ration distribution through ePoS in the state. The current server will continue to be used for purposes including storing information on ration distribution and receiving applications.
Authorities have arranged ration distribution in two shifts until the new server is set up. While ration shops in 7 districts will operate from morning to afternoon, rations shops in other 7 districts will operate from afternoon to evening.
Prior to setting up the new server, Minister GR Anil held discussions with officials from NIC, IT Mission and State Data Center. The arrangement was made after officials assured that the issue could be resolved before the 18th.
Even when ePoS machines remained unresponsive in the last few days, the Civil Supplies officials had claimed that all the issues were resolved and that there were no issues with the server. Meanwhile, the functioning of ePoS machines had slowed down yesterday morning as well. Later, its performance improved.
