THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Ordinance is brought only to save the chief minister from the case and Kodiyeri’s article on the Lokayukta ordinance is a new interpretation, said opposition leader V D Satheeshan. The Lokayukta Act was passed by the legislative assembly. The president had given his assent to the law and so when it is amended it should be send to the president for approval.

The government is trying to bring in what the legislative assembly had once discussed and rejected. The left front had never said anything on the matter for 22 years. It was only after the chief minister’s case cropped up, they began to think about its unconstitutionality.

The ordinance weakening Lokayukta has been brought in order to escape from this case. Kanam Rajendran had clearly explained the mystery in promulgating the ordinance. Let Kodiyeri first give reply to Kanam Rajendran, a member of his own front, said Satheeshan.

CPM is launching cyber-attacks against the cultural activists opposing K-Rail. What is the difference between the communists in Kerala and the Sangh Parivar who killed Gauri Lankesh? he asked. Even responsible people are launching personal attacks against cultural activists and writers, after inspecting their history. CPM should remember that this is not Stalinist Russia, it is democratic Kerala, he said.
