KOZHIKODE: Calicut University has come up with a move to appoint a teacher, who was named an accused in the death of a student, as the Controller of Examinations. A syndicate meeting was started to take a decision in this regard.

An attempt is being made to appoint Godwin Samraj, former principal of Malabar Christian College, as the examination controller. Godwin Samraj was named an accused in the death of a Punjabi student of Malabar Christian College who committed suicide after failing to appear for an examination. However, the authorities did not take any action against the teacher. This was followed by the move to appoint him as examination controller. Godwin Samraj had earlier faced action in a case related to drunk driving. He is the leader of the Left Teachers' Union.
