THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Governor Arif Mohammad Khan has sought explanation from the government in the Lokayukta ordinance on the complaints raised by the opposition. Explanation is needed in issues related to unconstitutionality and requirement of President's approval. The complaints were sent to the Chief Minister for immediate explanation.
Meanwhile, the Leader of the Opposition has written to CPM General Secretary Sitaram Yechury on the Lokayukta amendment. In the letter, VD Satheesan asked the central leadership to direct the state government to withdraw from the amendment. The letter also states that the ordinance was against the stand taken by the CPM on Lokayukta and Lokpal issues. The Leader of the Opposition said in the letter that the political morality of the CPM was being questioned and that the party's stance so far against corruption was merely to deceive the people.
