KOZHIKODE: The girls who escaped from the Government Children’s Home in Vellimadukunnu, were brought back. One of the girl’s mother filed a plea seeking to release her daughter. The plea was given to the district collector in Kozhikode.

The mother demanded to send her daughter home. She alleged that the authorities of the children’s home refused to release her. Six girls’ of the children’s home escaped from there on January 26.

Two of them were caught from Bengaluru and four from Edakkara in Malappuram. They told police that they escaped due to bad conditions of the home.


Meantime, action is likely to be taken against the police in connection with the incident of an accused trying to escape from custody after an attempt to sexually abuse the girls. Preliminary assessment is that there was a lack of vigilance when taking the accused for medical examination. The special branch will submit a report to the commissioner today.
