KOZHIKODE: The girls, who escaped from the children’s home in Vellimadukunnu and brought back said that they don’t want to continue there. One of the girls brought back slit her wrist. She was taken to the hospital. Her injuries are not serious.
One of the girl’s mother had earlier filed a plea with the district collector and child welfare commission seeking permission to take her daughter home. She complained that the authorities there refused to send her home.
Six girls escaped from the children’s home on January 26. The police found four from Malappuram and two from Bengaluru.
The girls told police that they escaped from there because of the bad situation there. They were brought back to the children's home. It was after this one of the girl’s slit her wrist. A case was registered against two youths for allegedly trying to sexually abuse them after forcing them to consume liquor.
