PALAKKAD: A student committed suicide due to depression as she could not pay the exam fees on time. Beena (20), a third year student of MES College, Palakkad, was found hanging inside her house. Beena is the daughter of Ummini Subramanian and Devaki residing near Palakkad Railway Colony.

Beena's mother came to the college with money after the due date. Without taking the fees, the college authorities asked her to approach the university to pay the fees. Beena was dejected after this.

Biju, Beena's brother, said that his sister died after feeling downhearted that she won't be able to write the exam due to late payment of fees.
