KOCHI: The crime branch is hoping that the scientific examination of the six phones used by the four accused, including Dileep, in the conspiracy case will also bring up details of calls to 'madam'.
The actress who reached Dileep's house on the day of the conspiracy will be questioned. The details of those who visited Dileep while he was in jail have also been collected. Director Balachandra Kumar, who was present at the time, told the Crime Branch that a political leader from Thiruvananthapuram Vithura had visited Dileep along with an actor and talked to him about Dileep's financial dealings.
Inspecting calls
Some of the phones requested by the Crime Branch were used by the accused during 2017-18. It is alleged that the phones were used to influence witnesses in the case. According to Dileep, he has only two SIMs. Phones will be checked to see if any other SIM card has been used. The probe team has demanded the handing over of three phones of Dileep, two phones of his brother Anoop and one phone of his sister's husband TN Suraj. Four phones were not sent for testing. The Crime Branch estimates that Dileep might have more than seven phones.
Phones will be handed over
The smartphones which were not handed over by Dileep to Crime Branch will be handed over to the High Court Registrar through a lawyer at 10.15 am today in a sealed box. This includes two of Dileep's phones sent to a private forensic lab in Mumbai. The phones will be sent for scientific examination by the court. The test will be conducted at the Thiruvananthapuram Regional Forensic Lab. The move is to oppose bail by handing over to the court the preliminary information collected from the phones of Dileep and others whose anticipatory bail petition will be considered on Wednesday.
