NEW DELHI: The country is going through the third wave of Covid-19, since the first case was reported in India, two years before. The country also had to cope with seven Covid variants as well. However, the virus spread continues to remain the same without much change. The country reported 2,09,918 new Covid cases in the last 24 hours. 959 deaths were also reported. With this the total number of Covid cases in the country has increased to 4,10,92,522. As of now, 4,94,091 Covid deaths were recorded.
2,62,628 people have recovered in the last 24 hours. 18,31,268 people are currently undergoing treatment. The daily test positivity rate (TPR) is 15.77 percent, while the recovery rate is 94.37 percent. Data reveals that 1,66,03,96,227 people have been fully vaccinated. On account of the sharp surge of Omicron, restrictions are to continue till February 28, informed the centre.
Kerala reported 51,570 Covid cases in the last 24 hours, raising the total number of active cases to 59,83,515. In the meantime, the World Health Organisation (WHO) has confirmed that 21 million Covid cases were reported across the world, last week. This is the highest positivity rate, ever since the first Covid case was reported.
