THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The restrictions imposed in the state due to Covid-19 third wave will continue. There are no new restrictions or exemptions in existing regulations. Restrictions similar to the lockdown on Sundays will continue. The decision was taken at an online review meeting chaired by the Chief Minister.
As there was no major change in the Covid spread in the state,it was decided not to allow further concessions. At the same time,it was assessed that the number of Covid cases in Thiruvananthapuram has decreased. But,Thiruvananthapuram will remain in the C category. No additional restructions including night curfews. The decision to close theaters and gyms in the C-category districts has been widely criticized, but the restrictions remains.
The random check for international travelers will be reduced from 20 per cent to 2 per cent. This is based on the assessment that there is no need for further testing for the virus variant due to omicron spread in the state. Two percent random check will be done to examine if any other variants other than Omicron and Delta were newly formed. The review meeting also noted that despite the high spread of Covid, hospitals were not overcrowded and the number of critically ill patients was low.
