THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Shashi Tharoor MP has changed his stand on K Rail. In a Facebook post, he demanded that it is necessary to examine whether Vande Bharat trains would be an alternative for K Rail. The concerns over land acquisition and environmental impact need to be addressed. Tharoor said the central and state governments should hold further discussions in this regard. Tharoor's demand came after the union budget announced the launch of 400 high-speed Vande Bharat Express trains in three years.
Earlier, Tharoor's disapproval to the Congress' stance on the K Rail issue had drawn a lot of criticism. Many including KPCC president and others came to the fore against him and requested the national leadership to take action. Soon after this, he changed his stance.
