NEW DELHI: The Centre said that they cannot give immediate approval to state government's Silver Line project. The consent was denied pointing that the Detailed Project Repor (DPR) issued by Kerala is incomplete.

The DPR does not specify whether it is technically or financially feasible. The Centre said that no environmental study has been conducted and the Silver Line could not be sanctioned immediately taking this into account. Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav said this in response to the questions raised by Kerala MPs N K Premachandran and K Muraleedharan in the Lok Sabha. The technical feasibility report is not in the DPR. The amount of land to be acquired is not shown. The Ministry of Railways said that a decision could be taken only after examining all these.

However, those in charge of K Rail said they had not received any official notification about this. Will provide more information if centre demands, the authorities said.
