THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: KPCC president K Sudhakaran said that the Congress is not against K-Rail and will support it if it is convinced that the project is beneficial for the development of Kerala. Sudhakaran said the government should admit that everything it has done so far in the SilverLine project is illegal and allay the concerns of the people. The KPCC president added that the central government had not allowed the land acquisition and that it was a barbaric move by the government.
Sudhakaran alleged that the Chief Minister's behaviour and reactions were not in line with democracy and that Pinarayi Vijayan's actions were an insult to democracy.
Earlier, the Centre had said that the Silver Line project in Kerala cannot be sanctioned immediately. The permission was denied on the ground that the DPR issued by Kerala was not complete. "The DPR does not specify whether it is technically or financially feasible. No environmental study has been done and the SilverLine cannot be sanctioned immediately in view of this situation", the Centre informed.
Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav said this in response to questions raised by Kerala MPs NK Premachandran and K Muraleedharan in the Lok Sabha. The technical feasibility report is not in the DPR. The amount of land to be acquired is not shown. The Ministry of Railways has said that the decision can be taken only after examining all these.
