THIRUVANATHAPURAM: Nazar had published an advertisement on the newspaper to find Lewis, a man who had financially helped his non-resident father, 40 years ago. Nazar’s father Abdulla had died in grief of indebtness, following which, his son published an advertisement in search of Lewis, the man who had helped his father. However, the advertisement published on January 31 has found five people, claiming to be Lewis.

Abdulla, a native of Madanvila, Perumathura had reached the Gulf in the 1980s. Even after searching for long, he was unable to find any job. It was Lewis, a Kollam native, who had given him money at the time. Using the money, Abdulla was able to find a job in a quarry. Soon after, he changed residence and was unable to keep in touch with Lewis. After returning home, Abdulla had told his children of his desire to find Lewis and pay him back. Even after long searches, he was unable to find him. Hence they published an advertisement in the newspaper, but that also did not yield any result.

Abdulla breathed his last on January 23, without fulfilling his desire of meeting that friend who had helped him in his worst. Father had asked to pay back that debt. It was his last wish, said Nazar. ‘As per current value, only Rs 22000 need to be paid. Since it was our father’s last wish, we have to somehow fulfill it’, Nazar’s family said. It was in the hope of finding Lewis or his brother Baby, that they gave the advertisement once again.

One of Abdulla’s friends had clarified that none of the people who came claiming the money were Lewis. A counselor has now offered help to find Lewis soon.
