THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Akshaya State Project Director has informed the Human Rights Commission that strict legal action will be taken against the Akshaya Centre which charged Rs 110 instead of the Rs 50 fixed by the government for linking the phone number with Aadhaar. The project director made the announcement in a case registered with Justice Anthony Dominic, chairman of the Human Rights Commission.
According to the report, officials, including the Akshaya District Project Manager, inspected the Kattakada Kuttichal Akshaya Centre against which the complaint was lodged. The inspection found that the service charges prescribed by the government for services through Akshaya Centres were not displayed at the centre. The report also said that receipts for service charges related to Aadhaar have not been issued to the public.
The entrepreneur of Akshaya Centre admitted that he charged Rs 110 from the customer to connect the phone number to Aadhar. He admitted that it was a serious fault from his part. The report says that strict action will be taken against the entrepreneur as per the government order dated October 30, 2019. The Akshaya district chief co-ordinator will submit the file to the district collector for further action, the report said.
