SYDNEY: “Virender Sehwag is one of my all-time favourite cricket players. There is a star in the present Indian team, who can fill in his gap”, said the former Australian captain Michael Clarke. India’s Prithvi Shaw has an aggressive style of batting like Sehwag. To have such a player in the forefront is an added advantage for any team, he said. Clarke expressed his opinion in a documentary ‘Down Underdogs’ on Sony Ten channel.
“Sehwag was a genius, who took the game forward. It is his aggressive attitude that makes him different. For someone like me, I love that brand of cricket. That aggressive batsman at the top of the order. That’s why Sehwag was one of my favourite players. I would like to see India keep faith in him, a player like Prithvi Shaw, knowing he is young”,Clarke said.
Even though Prithvi Shaw was included in the Indian team in the Australian tour, he could not perform well. One should not assess a player’s potential after a single game, added Clarke.
