THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Governor Arif Mohammad Khan has rejected the government's argument regarding the re-appointment of Kannur VC. The governor said in a press release that the re-appointment of the VC was not on his instructions. "The news that the reappointment was made on the instructions of the Governor is completely distorted. It was the Chief Minister and the Minister of Higher Education who took the initiative in appointing the VC", the Governor said.
KK Ravindranath, the Chief Minister's Legal Adviser, came to see him on November 21 in the interest of re-appointing the VC. He informed that the government is keen to reappoint VC Dr Gopinath Raveendran. The governor said he was told that an official letter from the government in this regard would be sent to the Raj Bhavan by the office of the Minister of Higher Education.
The Governor said he had no part in the appointment of Kannur VC and denied reports that the Higher Education Department had given him the letter recommending Gopinath Raveendran's name for re - appointment as he had suggested.
