THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The state government has decided to extend the working hours of classes 10, 11 and 12 till evening. The classes will resume from this Monday onwards. Minister V Sivankutty said that the decision to extend the working hours was taken aiming to complete the lessons. The minister said that the emphasis was on the examinations.

The minister said that the decision on whether to extend the working hours of classes 1 to 9 will be taken at the Covid review meeting on Monday. Classes from 1 to 9 will start on February 14.

The decision to open schools and colleges was taken at a meeting chaired by the Chief Minister yesterday. Schools in the states were closed following a surge in Covid cases. Online classes will also continue in schools.
