LUCKNOW: Leading political parties have cancelled election-related celebrations and ceremonies following the demise of Lata Mangeshkar. The BJP has cancelled the launch of its election manifesto in Uttar Pradesh. Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Maurya were in Lucknow to attend the function. Following the cancellation of the function, a two-minute silence was observed in honour of Lata Mangeshkar.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi's virtual rally in Goa was also cancelled following the death of the legendary singer. Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant announced that all party functions in the state were cancelled in honour of Lata Mangeshkar. Although Punjab CM Charanjit Singh Channi was declared as the Congress' CM candidate in the upcoming assembly elections, the party leadership urged workers not to organise any celebrations in the wake of the death of the beloved singer.
