NEW DELHI: Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said that the Kerala Rail Development Corporation has been asked to submit technical documents as part of the DPR for the Silver Line project. He said this in the reply given to PV Abdul Wahab MP in the Rajya Sabha. "The report submitted by the state government does not contain any technical feasibility information. The project was approved in principle in December 2019. This permission was for preparation of DPR only," the minister said.

"The present plan may affect the development of the railways in the future. It was directed to submit detailed technical documents for alignment plan, details of railway land, crossings through existing railway network and asset determination through zonal railways for detailed examination of the project. We are not sure that the project is financially viable," he added.
