POTHENCODE: Goonda leader ‘Mental Deepu’ who sustained injuries in a clash with goons team died here Monday. He was undergoing treatment at the Thiruvananthapuram Medical College. Three have been taken into custody in connection with the incident.

Mental Deepu sustained serious head injuries after hit by stones and bottles in a clash that broke out while partying. He was later admitted to medical college hospital. Police said a dispute in connection with the sale of land ended in the attack. He sustained head injuries while consuming liquor at a shop in Chanthavila on Wednesday night at 11.30 pm. There was blood all over the road. Initial reports said Kuttan of Ayiroopara attacked him. Pothencode police has identified that a five-member team was involved in the attack. Mental Deepu is in the police’s goonda list. He is an accused in many cases including murder.
