KOCHI: The Kerala High Court has granted anticipatory bail to actor Dileep and his co-accused in the case of conspiracy to kill the investigating officers in the case of attacking the actress. Apart from Dileep, his brother Anoop, brother-in-law T N Suraj, cousin Appu and friends Baiju Chengamanadu and Sarath were granted conditional bail. The court directed the accused to cooperate with the probe. The verdict has asserted that that if they violate the bail conditions, the prosecution can approach the court with an arrest plea.
The investigating team were near the house of the actor with a move to arrest him if the court rejects their bail pleas. They left soon after the verdict came. The prosecution has decided to approach the apex court challenging the high court granting bail. The court's verdict came after days of arguments.
A case was registered against six including Dileep for hatching a conspiracy to endanger the investigating officers probing the actress attack case following the revelations of director Balachandra Kumar. Dileep was the first accused. Dileep's lawyer argued in the court that the officers conspired to trap him and that the audio recordings produced by the prosecution were fabricated with the help of mimicry experts. The accused argued that the murder was not a conspiracy but a curse that they would suffer he said after seeing the visuals of those trapping him in the case. Dileep's lawyer argued that the case was fabricated by some of the officials to settle personal grievances.
However, the prosecution argued that the allegations against Dileep were very serious. The crime branch has no bad intention in this case. The prosecution had told the court that the investigating officer has no connection with Balachandra Kumar. However, the court rejected the prosecution's arguments.
