kanam-rajendran

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: CPI state general secretary Kanam Rajendran has responded soon after the Lokayukta ordinance was signed by Governor Arif Mohammad Khan. He said that he still opposes the ordinance. The CPI expressed their objection as the urgency behind promulgating the Lokayukta ordinance is not convinced. The governor may have understood the need for the ordinance. The CPI should also understand what the governor understood. The issue needs to be discussed in the cabinet. The CPI will express their opinion there, said Kanam Rajendran.

Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan called on Governor Arif Mohammad Khan after returning from abroad. The chief minister explained to the governor about the ordinance. Section 14 of the existing Lokayukta Act is unconstitutional. The government has received legal advice on the matter, informed the chief minister. It was following the meeting that the governor gave his assent to the ordinance.
