KOCHI: The Kerala High Court on Monday said that it did not understand the purpose of the present survey for the SilverLine project. The court asked the state government why it was conducting the present survey if a proper survey was conducted in the DPR. The court questioned the government's action while considering a petition filed by landowners alleging that the authorities had illegally entered their land and marked the boundaries for the SilverLine project. Meanwhile, the government argued that a division bench was due to rule on another similar petition and that the case should be adjourned and that it should be given time to file a counter-affidavit.
Earlier, the single judge bench had issued an interim order directing the government to defer the steps for the survey. The court later extended the verdict till February 18. The court questioned the present survey by stating that the survey should have been conducted before preparing the DPR. The court had questioned the intent of the government in this regard while considering another petition. The single bench of the court had also ordered a stay on the survey proceedings on the land of more than ten petitioners.
