KOCHI: Ismat will give the bride a free wedding dress no matter how expensive it is. Seventy girls got married wearing wedding dresses from the Issara boutique opened by Ismat at Arookutty Kottur Pallikkavala in Alappuzha a year ago.
Ismat remembers how her father was helped by several people to buy her wedding dress and accessories. This helping deed inspired Ismat, who decided to help others for the same purpose. She first contacted Kannur native Sabitha, who collects clothes for poor people, to send some clothes. Later, she took over the task by herself. Ismat does this free service comes along with the sale of new clothes at her own boutique.
Ismat asks all her acquaintances to donate clothes. Those who did not want to buy and donate new dresses were asked to donate used yet fresh looking wedding dresses. This is because such clothes were used only for a few hours in a single day. Instead of wasting it, it would be nice if the dress becomes useful to someone else.
Several people belonging to various religions have donated clothes after coming to know about her endeavour. Some people offered money. However, Ismat did not accept it. Instead, she asked them to buy and donate new clothes.
Ismat is part of the Rainbow Free Bridal community, which is functioning in all districts.
