KOCHI: The police will record on Tuesday the statement of the complainant in the rape complaint against director Balachandra Kumar. A woman from Kannur had lodged the complaint against the director. The complaint stated that Kumar had raped her in Kochi 10 years ago. The case is being investigated by the Thiruvananthapuram high tech cell.

I got Balachandra Kumar’s phone number from a film worker, whom I met at a hotel in Thrissur in December 2011. When I called him seeking job, I was told to be given an opportunity. Soon, I was called to Kochi and was raped at the house of a film lyricist, the woman said in her complaint.

The complainant had alleged that Balachandra Kumar had threatened to circulate the visuals of the rape, if she lodged a complaint with the police. The woman who works as a home nurse refrained from filing a complaint, in fear of the director’s threat. It was after seeing his talks on channels seeking justice for the actress that she decided to go ahead with the complaint.
