Our society consists of many people who needs kindness and help. The truth is that unfortunately most people are not lucky enough to have it. No matter how many times you knock, doors will not always be opened for the benefits you deserve. In rare cases, a person's suicide might open the eyes of the authorities. The instance of Sajeevan, who committed suicide after being unable to remove the agricultural land tag from his four cents of land, even after visiting several govt offices, is a similiar one. The issue was given consideration only when it shook the society as a whole.

Sajeevan's attempt for land conservation, his wait and finally his suicide, will always remain as a symbol of the helplessness of common man.

The revenue record of the land conversion was taken by the District Collector directly to Sajeevan's house. It is the humanitarian approach of the Minister which made such a rare move possible.

Minister Vasavan's announcement of a house for Vava Suresh, who recently recovered from a venomous Cobra bite, can be hailed as a fulfillment of duty. This young man has already helped thousands of families at the risk of his own life. Vava Suresh returned to his thatched hut yesterday after receiving treatment at the Medical College Hospital. The society should have noticed the fact that for the last many years there has not even been a secure home for such a person who has been protecting families and institutions from snake fear. Failure to reach out to anyone for help should not be seen as a crime or a shortcoming. The government and the society should have looked into this matter. We are surrounded by many political parties and organizations working for the betterment of society. Such social work is great when they help the deserving.

In every country, there are many people like Vava Suresh who do selfless service for those around them and the community. However, of all of them, Vava Suresh is undoubtedly the one who deserves help and consideration of the society and the government. During the days when Vava Suresh was hospitalized due to snake bite, the anxious enquiries and prayers of the people from all over the state could not be forgotten. A new house for Vava Suresh is good news although it is by a charitable organization.

There will be many people around us who needs help and support. Government cannot help everyone at the same time. But in such cases, public servants and organizations should invlove. It is important to remember that in most cases, society rises with opportunity. There are many selfless people coming forward to help for medical treatment and for building houses. Care should also be taken to ensure that the various government assistance schemes reach only to those who are eligible.
