PALAKKAD: Babu, son of Rasheeda, a native of Cherad, got trapped at a depth of about 300 feet on Kurumbachi hill on Monday afternoon. Even though the coast guard’s helicopter arrived yesterday afternoon, they returned as they were neither able to reach near the mountain due to the strong winds nor able to control it. With this, the fear arose whether he could be rescued.
Babu spent one and a half days atop without food and water. When the army and the air force arrived from Sulur and Bengaluru last night, Babu's mother with full confidence said the army would bring my son back. That faith was not in vain. At the end of an adventurous rescue mission, the army brought back her son.
The mission was through an area with the presence of wild animals. The army had earlier said that they had spotted three bears. After overcoming all difficulties, they reached near Babu and brought the 23-year-old back to life.
The adventurous efforts of two soldiers led to the success of the rescue operation. Babu's family thanked the country and the army. After talking to her son, Rasheeda fell unconscious.
