PALAKKAD: A Malayalee officer led the Indian army to rescue Babu trapped in the steep hill in Malampuzha, today. Hemant Raj from Ettumanoor in Kottayam who led the rescue team, is being applauded on social media. Minister Vasavan also thanked Lt. Colonel Hemant Raj.

Hemant Raj was in the forefront during floods in Kashmir, Uttarakhand and Kerala. He was also in the rescue team in Coonoor also. He was also given the opportunity to become the commanding officer of the Tamil Nadu Republic Day Parade in 2021.

He risked his life during the floods in 2018 and joined a rescue team consisting of fishermen and civilians. Hemant had arrived at the Delhi airport to leave home for Onam in August 2018. It was at that time the news of the floods came. He soon changed his itinerary to Thiruvananthapuram from Kochi. The Malayalees will never forget Hemant who saved many lives then.
