PALAKKAD: A case will not be registered against Babu who was trapped in the Malampuzha hill while trekking, said Forest Minister A K Saseendran. There was news that the forest department would file a case under Section 27 of the Kerala Forest Act for encroaching on the hill without permission. The minister responded following that.
The minister said that he discussed the matter with the chief minister and the chief forest officer and had directed to stop the action. The Kurumbachi hill that Babu climbed is part of the protected forest area. It is an offense if people enter this area without the permission of the forest department. An offense punishable by up to one year in prison or a fine. Babu, who was trapped in the hill on Monday afternoon, was saved by the army after an end of 48 hour-long rescue operations.
