NEW DELHI: The central government has revised the Covid guidelines. The government has stopped classifying countries as Covid risk countries. From now onwards, seven-day quarantine is not required for the travelers coming from high-risk countries. Instead, they have to undergo self-monitoring for 14 days. They have to remain in quarantine only if tested Covid positive. The new rules will come into effect from February 14 onwards.

If Covid symptoms are noticed during the self-monitoring period, the person should immediately contact healthcare professionals. However, those coming from abroad should submit self-declaration documents in the Suvidha portal. They should also upload a negative RT-PCR report taken 72 hours prior to the journey along with four days’ travel details.

Random testing will be conducted on two percent of the people reaching the airports. The rest should self-monitor for 14 days. With this, the Central Government is withdrawing its directive issued last month, to allow foreigners to stay in their homes for seven days on quarantine and Covid inspection on the eighth day.

The new guidelines are applicable to those coming from 82 countries. The travellers from UK, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Qatar and Bahrain should upload two dose vaccination certificates.
