RIYADH: With the number of Covid cases declining, Qatar has announced ease of Covid restrictions. As per the Qatar cabinet, people are not required to wear masks in open public places. However, people should continue to wear masks in closed public places.
People should wear masks in crowds at markets and any exhibition venues, as well as in schools, universities, mosques and hospitals. Employees who are in close contact with a large number of people must also wear a mask. Today's cabinet meeting also decided to continue the other restrictions imposed in connection with Covid.
Qatar has been witnessing a decline in Covid cases. Although the Omicron variant of Covid had posed a challenge at one point, the situation came under control following the strong intervention of the authorities. The number of hospital admissions also dropped significantly compared to the second wave.
