MARADU: A woman was killed after a speeding car hit two women who were returning to the hostel after buying food. The other woman, who was seriously injured, has been admitted to the hospital. The deceased woman has been identified as Sandra (23), daughter of Kanjirappally native Babu.

Palakkad native M Ajitra (24), who suffered fractures and a head injury, is undergoing treatment at the hospital. The incident took place on Wednesday night near the Thaikoodam powerhouse.

Sandra, an employee of Pizza Hut in Vytila, and Ajitra, an employee of Thaikoodam Mejo Motors, were staying together at a nearby hostel. The accident took place when the two went outside the hostel to buy dinner. An Innova car that came from the Kundannoor area hit the women while they were crossing the road.

The two women lay on the road for a long time before they were rushed to the hospital. Sandra died at around 10 pm. The body was handed over to relatives after postmortem. The funeral will take place at 11 am on Friday. She is survived by mother Leelamma, brothers Aravind and Adithyan.
