KOZHIKODE: T Nasiruddin (79, state president of the Kerala Vyapari Vyavasayi Ekopana Samithi (KVVES), has passed away. He breathed his last at a private hospital in Kozhikode at 10.30 pm. He had been the president of the KVVES for over 30 years. The funeral will take place at 5 pm on Friday. Shops in the state will remain closed on Friday as a mark of respect.

He had served as a member of the Bharat Chamber of Commerce, Member of the VAT Implementation Committee, Vice Chairman of the Traders Welfare Fund, Kerala Mercantile Bank chairman and member of the Board of the Welfare Fund Board of the Shop and Commercial Establishment.

Nasiruddin was born on December 25, 1945, in Koodarapura in Kozhikode as the sixth son of TK Muhammad and Asmabi. He was the owner of Beauty Stores in Mittayi Theruvu. In 1984, he became the district president of the Vyapari Vyavasayi Ekopana Samithi. In 1985, he became the state general secretary of KVVES. He fought uncompromisingly for the rights of traders.
