THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Youth Welfare Board has come up with a plan to set up ten agricultural clubs in each district to attract youth to agriculture. The project is a continuation of the highly acclaimed Youth Action Force. The project, which will initially benefit at least 1,400 youth in 14 districts, will begin in March.
Each club must have at least 10 members. Registration for clubs has started at the district offices of the Youth Welfare Board.
The members of the club will be trained in scientific farming by experts.
Assistance for each club to cultivate crops of interest
Panchayat ponds will be upgraded and fish farming will be done.
Fish hatchlings will be provided free of cost. The fish will be bought by Matsyafed.
Exhibitions of products of young farmers will be organized.
Best Agricultural Clubs will be awarded.
Financial assistance will be given for agriculture.
The aim is to include more youth in agriculture. 30 clubs registered. Coming generation must realise the importance of agriculture, said S. Satheesh Vice Chairman, Youth Welfare Board
