THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Lokayukta has responded to the controversies. The Lokayukta said they are doing their job and they are not responding to what the media and politicians say. They said this without mentioning the name of former minister K T Jaleel.
Meantime, the Lokayukta said they still has the power to submit a final report under Section 14 of the Act. Governor Arif Mohammad Khan had earlier said there was nothing unconstitutional in the Lokayukta Amendment Ordinance.
The governor has a constitutional obligation to approve the directive of the cabinet. Arif Mohammad Khan said by approving the ordinance, fulfilled his constitutional duty. The Governor signed the Lokayukta ordinance on February 7 amidst controversies.
Jaleel had levelled serious allegations against Lokayukta. Jaleel had alleged that the state Lokayukta and former judge of the Supreme Court Justice Cyriac Joseph would do anything illegal for anyone if rewarded.
