THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The police will collect evidence in the murder case of Vineetha, an employee in a nursery in Ambalamukku, on Saturday. The evidence collection is for finding the murder weapon.
The police had arrested the accused Rajendran aka Rajesh (39), son of Daniel, a resident of Vellamandam Vembattur Rajeev Nagar in Thovala, Kanyakumari, on Friday. He is an accused in four murder cases. Vineetha’s necklace has not been found yet. The accused had sold the necklace in Kanyakumari.
The identification parade of the accused will be conducted soon. The CCTV footage from Ulloor junction and Peroorkada as well as an autodriver’s statement had provided crucial lead in the case. Rajendran had started working in a hotel near Peroorkada government hospital a month ago.
Vineetha was found dead amidst bushes, in a narrow path on the left side of the nursery, around Sunday noon. The woman was seen outside by the neighbours untill 11 am. Meanwhile, some customers who had come to buy plants, called the owner on the number written on the board, as no one was seen in the nursery.
The owner had sent another employee to the nursery as Vineetha did not pick up her phone. It was the employee who had found the dead body. The murder was committed to steal Vineetha’s gold necklace. However, Rs 25,000, the collection money of the nursery, was left in her handbag.
