rajendran

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Rajendran, arrested for murdering a woman employee of a plant nursery at Ambalamukku in Peroorkada, is a notorious criminal. He had murdered five including Vinithamol. However, it is surprising that he was not jailed in any of the murders committed earlier. Rajendran did not utter a word about the murder till the police arrested him from Tamil Nadu and brought to the capital city in Vinitha murder case. He confessed to the crime after the CCTV visuals, testimonies and phone records were produced before him.

Rajendran committed the five murders in the same manner. His method is to hide the weapon for attack in a cloth wrapped around his hand. Rajendran had killed a customs official, his wife and daughter in 2014 and in the same year committed another murder. All murders were committed by cutting the nerve of the victim's neck for which he always carries a sharp weapon.

Rajendran has agreed to have abandoned the knife used for the murder of Vinitha and the shirt worn at the time of the crime near a pond at Alappuram in Muttada. He did not reveal the exact place he abandoned the two. The court remanded him to seven days in custody to identify the place and to find the knife.

Rajendran pawned the stolen necklace of Vinitha at Bharat Finance near Kanyakumari for Rs 90,000. After clearing his debts, he handed over the remaining money to his woman friend. The Kerala police may collect more details of other offences from him. In the absence of eyewitnesses, confession, disclosures and circumstantial evidence of the accused will be decisive along with the scientific evidence.
