NEW DELHI: Kerala governor Arif Mohammad Khan has once again strongly opposed pro-hijab statements. The governor told the news agency that those who wanted to confine Muslim girls within the four walls are advocating for the hijab and that pro-hijab arguments are rising as a result of a conspiracy.
The hijab controversy is being raised to keep Muslim women indoors. Behind this is the fact that they want Muslim women not to come forward. Some still have the old Arabian mindset that used to bury girls when they were born. The governor also criticized the hijab for being found to deprive and oppress women from education. Yesterday, the governor alleged that there is a conspiracy behind those advocating for the hijab.
"Girls are at the forefront in academics. According to Islam, the hijab is not mandatory. Following the rules of educational institutions is not a denial of freedom of dress", the governor said on Saturday.
"The hijab was opposed by women in the time of the Prophet himself. The first generation of women had argued that the beauty that God had blessed upon them should not be hidden", he said.
