MAHARASHTRA: A woman was killed in a fight between two families over daughter’s WhatsApp status. The dead has been identified as Lilavati Devi Prasad (48) of Palghar district in Maharashtra. The incident took place in the Shivaji Nagar area of Boisar, on February 10.

The WhatsApp status put up by Lilavati’s 20-year-old daughter Preeti Prasad, along with a 17-year-old neighbor, led to a fight which resulted in the death of her mother. The neighbor who did not like the status, brought her mother and brother to talk about it. The talks soon turned into a fight. Lilavati, who suffered injuries on her ribs, was soon rushed to the hospital, but could not be saved. The woman had other health issues, but the injury during the fight had caused her death, said the police.

On the basis of Lilavati’s complaint, the Boisar police have filed an FIR against the 17-year-old girl, her mother, brother and sister. The minor girl has been shifted to a correction home, informed the police.
