KOZHIKODE: Two escaped from the Kuthiravattom Mental Health Centre. A man and a woman escaped from the centre. A woman was killed last week following a fight between the inmates of the centre. An inmate of the same ward escaped from the centre. The inmate killed was in the tenth cell of the fifth ward.

The woman escaped after drilling the wall. The superintendent said the wall of the old building was soaked with water and then drilled with a utensil. The incident happened at 5.30 am. The man escaped while he was being taken for a bath. The police have started an investigation on the incidents. Two escaping from the centre soon after the murder shows a major security lapse.

Meantime, additional DMO will submit a report to the DMO on whether there has been any lapse from the side of the hospital authorities in the murder. The woman was killed last Wednesday but the hospital authorities knew the incident only on Thursday early morning. The officials were criticised for their lapse. The health department is probing things including this. A statement will be taken from all employees who were on duty that day and will also gather information from the inmates. An accused inmate is likely to be arrested today.
