PALAKKAD: The Forest Department has registered a case against Babu, who was trapped in Cheradu hill. The Walayar Range Officer registered the case under the Kerala Forest Act (27) for trespassing in the forest. A case was also registered against the students who climbed the hill with Babu.
Forest Minister AK Saseendran said the move came in the wake of Babu's mother's response that the authorities should follow the natural process in connection with the incident. According to the minister, the action was taken to curb the trend of people climbing mountains.
One person had climbed the hill after Babu was rescued from the hill. Seeing flashlights on top of the hill at night, the locals informed the forest department. Though more lights were flashed, only one was found. The person has been identified as Anakkallu native Radhakrishnan (45). He was found at around 12 am.
