THIRUVALLA: A woman, who was travelling on a scooter with her husband, was killed after the scooter collided with a Torres lorry. The deceased has been identified as Mercy Mathai (65), wife of Konni native T Mathai. The accident took place at around 11.30 am yesterday on the overbridge on TK Road on the Thiruvalla bypass.

The incident took place while Mercy and her husband were returning from a private hospital. Mercy was run over by the lorry. She died on the spot. Mathai suffered minor injuries. Traffic on the bypass was disrupted for more than half an hour following the accident.
