RANCHI: RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav has been found guilty, in a fifth case related to the fodder scam, by a special Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) court in Ranchi. The judgment came in the Doranda treasury case concerning illegal withdrawal of Rs 139.35. Lalu Prasad was present in the courtroom when the judgment was passed. The sentence will be pronounced on February 18.

The CBI had registered 53 cases in connection with the fodder scam. Lalu Prasad is an accused in five of these cases. A total of 170 people are in the accused list of the Doranda treasury case for illegal withdrawal of money. Lalu Prasad, who had served more than three-and-a-half years in jail since 2017, in the first four cases related to the scam, was recently granted bail. His appeal against the sentence in these four cases is currently pending before the court.

The probe had found that Lalu Prasad Yadav had withdrawn more than Rs 940 crore from the state treasuries by making fake accounts of purchases of fodder, medicines and other equipment, during his tenure as the chief minister of Bihar.
