KANNUR: Mithun, one of the main accused in the case where a youth was killed in a bomb blast in Thottada, has surrendered before the police. It is learned that Mithun surrendered at the Edakkad station while the police were searching for him across the state. However, the police have not released the matter.
Mithun's gang member Jishnu (26), a resident of Echoor, was killed when a bomb accidentally hit his head during a brawl that took place before a wedding house in Thottada. Akshay, a member of the gang, was arrested by the police yesterday. With this, Mithun, who is suspected to be the main accused, escaped from the district. He surrendered at the police station after the police team intensified the search.
Police have received information that it was Mithun who made and threw the homemade bomb. The bomb was made by mixing explosives.
The bomb was hurled shortly at around 2 pm on Sunday at the 'Sindooram' house in Chalapanthrandu Kandi Road in Thottada in connection with Shamalraj's wedding. A fight had broken out between the residents of Thottada and Echoor at the wedding house that ended in the bomb blast. Jishnu, 26, of Balakandi House, Kannur, was killed as the bomb got deflected after hitting another person's hand and hit his head.
