THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Amid unrest in the state Congress over the intervention of former opposition leader Ramesh Chennithala, the KPCC executive committee meeting will convene on Friday.

The leadership is staring at issues such as uncertainty over the completion of the KPCC and DCC reorganization and the delay in the membership campaign ahead of the organizational elections. Leader of Opposition VD Satheesan and KPCC President K Sudhakaran discussed issues including reorganization at the KPCC headquarters yesterday. Sources said that the reorganisation is likely to take place within a week.

According to the leaders, the meeting will discuss issues including the resumption of protests against the SilverLine project, which was postponed due to the spread of Covid. Organizational issues, including the delay in the reorganization of the DCC and the unrest created by the Chennithala-Satheesan cold war, may affect the discussions at the meeting. The UDF meeting will be held on Monday to discuss the agitations against the government and the strategies to be adopted in the assembly.

The Chennithala-Satheesan cold war in the party came became evident when Ramesh Chennithala announced that he would bring a resolution in the Assembly against the Lokayukta Amendment Ordinance, keeping the UDF and the Leader of the Opposition in the dark. The KPCC leadership does not believe Chennithala's explanation that he said that when asked by reporters in Kochi. The leadership finds that the A and I group leaders are unhappy with the Satheesan-Sudhakaran duo tightening the grip on Congress, the formation of unit committees and the awakening of the party at the grassroots level.
