THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The budget session of the legislative assembly will begin on February 18, Friday. The session which will begin with governor’s policy address will resume on Monday after a two-day recess. The house will adjourn after paying tributes to Thrikkakkara MLA P T Thomas.
The discussions on governor’s policy address will be held on February 22, 23 and 24. The chief minister and the opposition leader will take part in the discussions. The budget will be presented by the state’s Finance Minister K N Balagopal, on March 11. The general discussion on the budget will take place on March 14, 15 and 16.
The house will adjourn on March 23 after completing the vote on account process on March 22, said Speaker M B Rajesh. The Kerala legislative assembly has met for the highest number of days, even during the Covid pandemic. The assembly has met for 61 days, which is a day more than the parliamentary sessions. The ruling government as well as the opposition have equally contributed towards the achievement, said the speaker.
