KIIFB has become beneficial in infrastructure development within a short period of time, despite widespread criticism in the beginning. So far KIIFB has undertaken 962 projects. Many of them have been completed and many are in the construction phase. More than Rs 70,000 crore is due to KIFB for the implementation of these projects and more than Rs 17,000 crore has already been disbursed.

The Board of Directors of KIIFB has decided to undertake 44 new projects with a total cost of 6943 crore, which are expected to be completed within three years. Out of 44 new projects, 28 are under Public works dept and its costs 4397 crores. Seven projects under Health dept worth 392 crores and a water resources project worth 273 crore are among the new acquisitions by KIIFB. In Ayyampuzha, 850 crore will be spent for the industrial corridor and 114 crore for the land acquisition for the Ayush department.

Out of the new projects, special one is the tunnel construction connecting Wayanad and Kozhikode districts. This will be a project of general interest. This is a dream project that has been in the minds of the people for a long time. Frequent traffic jams on the existing pass road, especially during monsoons, make the journey very difficult. It will take a long time to cross the pass. An alternative tunnel would be beter and easier to reach Wayanad from Kozhikode. Also, the journey to Ooty and Bangalore via Wayanad will also be easier. The expense of twin tunnel is 2134 crore and estimated length which is about 8 km long, The project is expected to be completed in three years. As usual, there may be a lot of concerns and protests regarding the tunnel, but it must be overcome and move forward. There are many people in the country who are highly skilled in tunnel construction. New technologies are also available. There is no need to worry about the timely construction of the tunnel as the construction of the tunnel will be entrusted to the Konkan Railway Corporation, which has made the Konkan Railway a reality..

The general delay in project implementation in the state is also seen in the case of KIIFB approved projects. It should change. A board should be set up in the project area to record the completion date of each project at the commencement of work. Such boards are also a reminder to project executives.

KIIFB has approved 28 new projects from the Public works dept. Delay in public works and in repairs have always been criticized and a number of measures have been taken recently to change this notoriety.

There are many overpasses, roads and bridges that have been mentioned for years. The ones in the busiest places should be built first. KIIFB has already upgraded 210 government school buildings, upgraded 44,706 school classrooms to high tech, and has been able to set up 443 new dialysis centers using KIIFB funds. KIIFB is also involved in the renovation of various govt institutions. KIIFB must ensure that the projects are completed on time without any delay.
